Solar Powered MicroFactory│Design + Build
Role: Lead Designer │ Team Member at CIRCULAR ECONOMY MANUFACTURING
Techniques: CAD Design, Spacial Design, Construction & Build
Date: 2021
Team Project
Objective: Lead the design, development, and construction of a solar-powered MicroFactory within a shipping container, located on the sustainability hub of Governors Island. The facility efficiently transforms single-use plastics into new products using rotational molding, powered entirely by renewable energy.
Contributions:
3D Modeling & Renders – Created detailed CAD models and visualizations to guide fabrication and assembly.
Factory Layout & Workflow Design – Optimized spatial planning and equipment placement for efficient material flow and production.
Custom Solar Racking System – Engineered a bespoke racking solution, managed material procurement, vendor coordination, and on-site assembly.
Build Documentation – Developed comprehensive construction guides and technical drawings for seamless implementation.
Description: The Solar Powered MicroFactory project demonstrated the feasibility of sustainable micro-manufacturing in both urban and remote environments. The self-sustaining facility processes single-use plastics into new products, reducing waste and reliance on traditional energy sources.
