PA-TEA-NA │Mid Century Modern Tea Set
Material: Stoneware
Techniques: Slip Casting, Plaster Mold Making, Ceramics
Date: Spring 2019
Personal Project
Objective: Design a collection of functional ceramic vessels with two different glaze finishes.
Description: PA-TEA-NA is a three-piece tea set that fuses mid-century modern aesthetics with contemporary ceramic artistry. Drawing inspiration from the boldness of obtuse angles and the gentle curves of organic, bulbous forms, each vessel is meticulously crafted to balance geometric precision with a fluid, natural elegance. The design’s sinuous, understated contours exude both sophistication and humility, creating a timeless object that adapts effortlessly to diverse settings—from sleek urban interiors to more traditional tea spaces.
The tea set is available in two distinctive glaze finishes: a warm, inviting patina copper that lends a sense of rustic charm and depth, and a refined matte black that communicates modern minimalism and versatility. Designed to hold exactly four servings of tea, PA-TEA-NA seamlessly combines form with functionality, making it as practical as it is aesthetically compelling. Every element of the design is a celebration of balance, ensuring that each piece is not only a vessel for tea but also a work of art that enhances the everyday ritual of tea drinking.
